One of the best parts of this trip is that I get to see my dear friend Zahra. She is absolutely darling, and, I enjoy making her say the word “water.” We argued over the pronunciation of water starting 20 years ago when we met. She insisted it was pronounced wou-tah and did a hilarious imitation of an American saying it. Her face when she tries to sound American is absolutely priceless. This hilarious mix of concentration and condescension. Needless to say, the Snoop knew this story and we waited politely all through our lunch to request that she say the word. I’m sure she doesn’t agree, but, it is still as funny now as it was 20 years ago!
It was great to meet her family, and, especially, to snuggle baby Lola who is a dream of a 2 month old!
