Snoop searches for the perfect…

When we were in Shanghai, we learned about Portuguese egg tarts. We were at a restaurant in our hotel, and for dessert, we had them, and we fell in love. We went back two or three times just for the egg tarts.

Since they are called Portuguese egg tarts, we decided to go to Portugal to try to find the best egg tart in the world. Today, we ate at the supposed ‘best place.’ It has been around since the 1700s and is just down the street from a big monastery where Vasco de Gama’s tomb is. We had very high expectations after many people, websites and newspaper reviews said that Pasteis de Belem was the best.

The bottom line? It was not as good as Shanghai, and we tried a few more that were not as good. We are still in search of the best egg tart in the world. Luckily, we are in Portugal for a few more days.
