The smog wasn’t as bad in Agra as it was in Delhi, but, it was still hard to see the Taj Mahal with all of the pollution. It was really cool to finally see the Taj Mahal. It was huge.
It is made of shiny marble called Makhana marble. It took 22 years to make. There are thousands of semi-precious stones that make flowers and vines on the walls. Some of the flowers have over 100 little pieces in them. That is probably why it took so long.
A man named Shah Jahan built it for his 3rd wife. He wanted to build a separate one in black marble for himself, but, his son said it was too expensive, so, Shah Jahan ended up in the Taj Mahal next to his wife.
