I was a little bit confused at first. We got on the ferry boat and we thought maybe Menaggio was Bellagio. They are across Lake Como from each other.
Bellagio is this very little town. It has 4 streets going up and down, and 6 streets going sideways. I think it is the smallest town on the whole lake.
Flavio, our apartment owner, lives right in the middle of town. We have an awesome apartment in the middle of everything. The view of the mountains and the lake is unbelievable.
We got to go kayaking on the lake. For most of the time, I went with my mom, but, then, I got my own kayak. After that, we went rock-skipping. My best was 4 skips and Dad’s was 12. I do not know how he did it.
One night, we went up to this really cool restaurant called Belvedere at the top of the mountain overlooking the lake. Our view was incredible, and, from way up there, the lake looked as still as a mill pond. Our food was wonderful and basic. The polenta was delightful, and, we got to meet the farmer who gave us the fresh berries for our dessert. They were so good.
There was a really good restaurant in town too, it was called Aperitivo et al and it had the best salads and chocolate cake. There is also a fantastic gelato place called Borgo. if you go there, get the Oro Di Sicilia kind. It is almond and pistachio together with these yummy little nuggets in it.
Bellagio might be a tie for my favorite place of the entire trip. except there was no Boni the French Bulldog there.
